HELLO FROM ALABAMA

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Recently I was able to share with my community by television and the media about AC Ministries. The response has been a blessing! The journalist that wrote the article was also impacted by alcoholism, therefore she put a lot of time and research into the article. We were very pleased with it. I stronly felt the presence of the Holy Spirit within me as I shared my testimony with her. Don't you love it when that happens! Before this happened there was no one coming to my meeting. God and I spent many thursday nights alone. Praise Him! Today I have ten people coming and I feel more confident in myself and in sharing this gift of sobriety with others. God bless - Pat, Huntsville, AL

LAKEVIEW, MI SHARES

I was about to call it quits, but eventually the Lord had something else in mind. I have been at the meeting place faithfully every Monday night. Two people have come at different times. One person was faithful for several months. so I have been back to just me and the Lord for awhile and was about to quit. However, I picked up this Evangel magazine, and on the fourth page began reading "Just One More Time". Last Monday another person came. So I will continue every Monday night to be there. My church is praying along with me that the people will begin to come and give the Lord a chance to help them.. Esther, Lakeview MI group.
The following is an excerpt from"Just One More Time", Evangel Magazine, February 4, 2000
Just as Samuel admonished Saul that obedience was more important than sacrifice, the new Testament teaches that is is more important to be found faithful than to succeed (1 Corinthians 4:2) or to be rich or famous. Even when we don't see results, we are to keep at the task God has given us. We are in charge of being faithful. God is in charge of the results. By Loma G Davies Silcott

TEXAS SHARES

Greetings from the Lone Star State!
Lots of "God-sized" things are happening in Fort Worth. If you recall from the last newsletter we were struggling to get the Fort Worth meeting off the ground. Since our last report we've had anywhere from three to nine people attending each week. The local churches here in Texas are helping us spread the word about our meeting and the members here at Handley Baptist Church where the meeeting is held are contributing prayerfully, financially, and in attendance to make the meetings and ministry a success.

The most exciting news is how the prison ministry is rally growing. Our local group has adopted this area of ministry. We have ben sending the Life Recovery Bible, AC workbooks and Daily Devotional into the Texas Prison system. What started as a few Bibles in January has multiplied into 36 Bibles, 50 Devotionals, and about 50 AC workbooks. These books have been going into the hands of inmates in Dayton and Austin since January. God is really working with this ministry. We are on the verge of seeing those two facilities start AC tables in their prisons. There are currently six AA/NA type tables in the facilities during the week. There are three volunteere Chaplains in each prison who lead some type of Christian Recovery program several times a week. If it is God's will, those Chaplains will most likely within the next few weeks make the call to start AC tables inconjucntion with their current program.

The volunteer Chaplains have reviewed the AC workbook and are currently dicsussing with the head Chaplain about incorporating the AC workbook. Also the members at Handley Baptist and our Fort Worth group have started mentoring and corresponding with inmates as a form of outreach and we are currently trying to set up a program for incmates to get them into a local church and AC group immediately upon release.

Keep praying for the work God is doing in Texas prisons. There are a lot of people to be reached. Our local AC group is planning to do a Christian Music Concert in Travis State jail sometime in April or May. The details are still being worked out. We will have a whole day to share the Lord with Christian music, AC meeting in their Chapel, and personal evangelism!! So keep praying for us! In Christ..Eric, Forth Worth, TX

ASK US ABOUT PRISON MINISTRY

Last Fall, while attending an Alcoholics for Christ men's retreat at the Salvation Army facility, we had an informal meeting regarding the need for prison ministry. We had heard one testimony after another of the change that Christ can make in transforming prisoners' lives.
These men had been sentenced for everything from misdemeanors to life sentences, but Jesus had changed their hearts and lives. It became clear that God was calling us to take AC into the prisons. Upon returning home and checking websites I was surprised to find there were no 12 step, Christ-centered programs dealing with addiction for the incarcerated. We started having meetings regarding this need and felt the resistance of the enemy tremendously! As we pushed on we could clearly see that God was way ahead of us, opening doors and preparing the people He was calling. This year, through Promise Keepers Meetings, we will be contacing hundreds of thousands of men across the country about this part of the ministry. The ink is not even dry on our literature for the prison ministry and we are already getting calls. We are starting our first maximum security AC meeting in Florida soon! Please keep us in your prayers.. the battle is furious but God is going to do great things! Will Garrett, AC Vice-President

Step 12- Having been spiritually restored and set free from “the sin which so easily besets us,” we attempt to share this freedom and the one who has freed us with those who still suffer, and practice the Lord’s principles in all our affairs. AC workbook

There are some wonderful testimonies of touched lives within this newsletter.  As we continue to grow and share our stories with others, AC continues to grow. Step 12 is a call to action in giving of ourselves, prayer, time, and finances.

Please be in prayer in whatever way the Lord is leading you to help AC continue to touch hurting people’s lives.  We cannot do this without your prayers, financial support, attendance at meetings and praise reports. You are what makes AC work.
