WALKING IN VICTORY

ALCOHOLICS FOR CHRIST IS CELBRATING 25 YEARS OF MINISTRY

ALABAMA GROUPS --AC attends Heritage Keepers Conference in Nashville, TN ----On September 15, 2001, just days after terrorists attack the United States, ladies from all across America gathered in Nashville, TN for a time of spiritual renewal and prayer. Nationally known speakers Marge Caldwell, Dr. Roseanne Coleman, Carol Kent, and Ruth Graham McIntyre spoke to the crowd of thousands, challenging us to be women after the very heart of God. And our Alabama groups from Lindsay Lane Baptist, Farley Community, and New Beginning Church were on hand, passing out information packets and praying with and for the ladies in attendance. Praise the Lord, the message of AC was spread again! Powerful music set the stage for the speakers. Renunion recording artist Kathy Tricolli became transparent before us as she shared of struggles with an eating disorder in her own life. After the conference, she sat down with us (AC) to receive more information on this ministry. She told us of more conferences, in which she participates, that would also be receptive to the AC messsage. She said she would be in touch. Many ladies inquired about where AC meetings are located in different states, and how to begin prison ministries in thier home areas. I could go on and on about this conference - it was so awesome!! I will share this in closing. Seven ladies went to this conference to minister to others and we were the ones who were ministered to!! Brim, our newest and youngest member of AC, received Christ as her personal Savior. As for the other six - we left with a deeper sense of God's call on our lives and a new determination to reach alcoholics, substance abusers and family members with the hope of Jesus Christ. The world is hungry for the truth and AC is there to offer it. In Christ's service -- Shana Turner, Alabama AC Group.

Another note from Alabama: Lately the AC Chapters in Huntsville and Athens, Alabama have had outside opportunities to share AC. First of all, we were invited to a Men's Rally at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Things went well and we were able to pray with a man whose father had been in AA for 30 years. His heart was burdened that his father didn't know Christ. Several others came by to talk with us. Next, we were able to be a part of Promise Keepers in Nashville. We've never felt the Holy Spirit working in us as He did that Saturday! We prayed with many and one young man kept coming back. He was 20 years old and had had a period of 16 months sober and then went back out again. We learned through conversation with him that he had not completed the 12 steps. We prayed with him and his father and directed them to the nearest meeting and encouraged them to work their programs seperately. - God did one other thing. He put our booth next to a ministry called Heritage Keepers - a women's ministry founded by Lori Beckler. Through conversation with Lori we were invited to her conference on September 15 and the rest of the story is right above this note. God bless all - Darlene and Pat

LAPEER, MICHIGAN GROUP - Hello AC!- We had a woman start attending our family group. Her son was in crisis and so was she. She had just told her son he could no longer live with them. Her son is 27 and had been causing problems due to alcohol for a long time. She had had enough and could not take it anymore, but felt terrible making him leave. He told her he was going to a motel to drink himself to death. She came to our meeting asking if she did the right thing to kick him out. We all supported her decision and prayed for him because he needed to reach his bottom. We also had her read the book "Dying for a Drink". She kept her stand and didn't let him come back home. A couple came to the motel where he was staying and told him about Teen Challenge. He is now in Teen Challenge and liking it. She said she learned more from AC and "Dying for a Drink" than she ever knew and that it really helped her and she shared with her church. The Pastor's wife ordered 10 "Dying for a Drink" books and she is circulating them in their church and she has started coming to our meetings! Praise God! Fran - Lapeer, MI group

CANADA AC: Hi everyone! The blessings we received from the Hamilton, Ontario Promise Keeper Conference are too wonderful for words! We had five people helping out at our booth Friday and Saturday. We prayed with many people. And Friday night, for one gentleman named Tony, we prayed for healing of his liver. He started to drip sweat and he really felt the Holy Spirit go through him. He came back Saturday morning and told us the pain was gone, and he is believing God for his healing! We were the only table that prayed for people and many people came back for more prayer. We received 70 requests for more information about AC and 27 of them were asking how to start a meeting. I believe the Lord will honor the sign I saw by the road when I was praying and asking God how He was going to bless AC in Canada. The sign I saw was in big black letters and said "150 AC" and I have claimed the land the Lord has given us believing for 150 meetings in Canada. We also had quite a few people come from New York and Pennsylvania and stop at our table to inquire about AC. We prayed for them and blessed them for waiting so long at the border to come to the PK conference. We can know that Jesus is our Joy and pursuing Him is our strength. To me Joy is: Jesus - first love; Others - second love; Yourself - third love -- Jesus teaches us how to love ouselves so we can love others.-- Your sister in Christian love - Robin, Canada AC

FLORDIA AC: Hi Friends! I am writing for St. Petersburg, FL where I've been a member of AC and the Solid Rock Christian Recovery Center since it started about one year ago. Last June I celebrated 18 years clean and sober through the power of God and the guidance of AA/NA and AC. Over 100 people have come to know Christ as a result of our meetings. For about eight months I've been leading the table for Adult Children using the ACOA format basing it on Janet Woitiz. Pastor Glenn (who is our group leader) gave me several Green Adult Child workbooks. We started using them this week and I'm so excited about our meeting becoming more Biblically based and Christ centered! I'm praising Him for the salvation and growth we are about to witness. Already I don't have enough workbooks. I visited the website and was amazed to find out that AC is celebrating 25 years! How wonderful! What a ministry!!

Some of the resources we have available to you are: Video - "Ripped Down the Middle" which encourages people to deal with their past, and offers hope and healing. -Books--"Dying for a Drink", "Twelve Step Christianity", "A Spiritual Kindergarten" and the Life Recovery Bible.
